Dashed line. Keep words, faces and logos inside it. Anything outside can end up in the folded edge or under a grommet.
Shaded edge. The hem: a little over half an inch (0.625 in) on every side is folded over and welded so the banner does not tear. Your background colour should run through it.
Brass dots. Where the grommets go: the metal eyelets you hang the banner by. The real ones are about an inch across and cover whatever is under them.
Striped band. A pole pocket: that strip is folded into a sleeve and welded. Anything in it is sewn shut, so the dashed line moves in to clear it.
None of these marks are printed.
